Creating software
is fun, isn’t it?
Şura Karaali, Computer engineer, Istanbul
I’m Şura. I build mobile apps and websites in Istanbul, and I’m just as happy doing business analysis: clear requirements, Agile, and a method the whole team can follow.

Where I’ve been so far.

Business analysis
A change of pace: 7,043 telecom customers and the question of who leaves, what it costs, and what to do about it. One SQL query per business question, then a small bilingual report with charts. The headline: first-year, month-to-month fibre customers are 13% of the base but 38% of the lost revenue.

About me
I studied computer engineering at Doğuş University, in a programme taught entirely in English, and graduated in 2026.
Since then I’ve done two product development internships in mobile, at Logo Yazılım and FMSS Bilişim Teknoloji: Agile teams, Git, pull requests, code reviews, the whole routine. On the side I build websites for clients with Next.js, and two of them are live right now.
Before that, internships at Mercedes-Benz / HAS Otomotiv and YASA Holding put me on the IT side of things: fixing what broke, writing it down, and talking to the people who actually use the systems. Good practice for building software nobody has to think about.

What I build with
React Native, Expo and Swift on the phone; Next.js, React and TypeScript on the web.
How I like to work
In a team, with pull requests, code reviews and a board everyone actually looks at.
Listen. Build.
Poke at it. Ship.
How I work
01 Listen
I read the brief, ask the slightly awkward questions early, and write down what “done” looks like before touching the keyboard.
02 Build
React Native or Next.js, in TypeScript, with components small enough that future me can still read them.
03 Poke at it
Accessibility, performance, the odd edge cases. On a real phone too, because the simulator is far too polite.
04 Ship
A pull request, a review, a release. Then I watch what people actually do with it and fix whatever they trip on.
What’s in my toolbox.
